MANUEL DA CONCEICAO GONCALVES Peacefully, with family at his side, Manuel passed away on April 15, 2015 at the age of 83. Born in Vale da Serra, Portugal, he moved to Canada with his family in 1973. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Gertrudes, sons Antonio (Nelia) and Sergio (Tracey), five grandsons, Marcio, Bruno, Thomas, Austin and Jordan. He is survived by his sister Lucia of Portugal. He was predeceased by his daughter Filomena, sisters Alzira, Encarnacao and Maria. He will be sadly missed by family and friends in Winnipeg, Portugal and England. Manuel worked for many years with Nelson River Construction. Upon retiring he enjoyed the opportunity to return to Portugal and spend time with his family and friends until his health deteriorated. He was a simple man devoted to his family. Our gratitude to the wonderful caregivers of Calvary Place Personal Care Home for the support, care and compassion provided to Manuel over the years and in his final days. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Interment will be in the Garden of Traditions at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens where Manuel will be buried next to his loving daughter Filomena. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044
