Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY SAMORODNY (nee KOCHAN) 1920 - 2015 Early Tuesday morning, an angel came and took our mother Mary's hand to begin her spiritual life. She passed peacefully at home with family by her side on April 21, 2015 at the age of 95. Left to cherish Mary's memory are her children, Elsie (Raymond), Rose (Julius), Nick (Helen), Paulina (Roy); grandchildren, Sharon (Peter), Brian (Genevieve), Corrine (Daniel), Keith, Kerry (Amber), Kenneth (Laura), Dale (Terry), Nicole (Ryan), Rocheen (Kyle), Jimmy (Jackie), Janet; great-grandchildren, Meaghan, Riley, Courtney, Emily, Nicholas, Nathan, Tyler, Phillip, Johnny, Angelica, Ashley, Kelly, Taylor, Darcie, Ciara, Logan, Aiden, Noah; great-great-grandchildren, Austin, Anthony, Alik, Hailey; sister Olga and sisters-in-law, Gracie and Bernice. She was predeceased by her husband John; grandchildren, Jason and Leanne; brothers, Harry, Nick, Michael, Peter; and her parents, Mike and Katherine. Mary was born in Hamerlik, Manitoba on February 24, 1920. She attended Leeland School. She married John and farmed in Hamerlik before moving to Winnipeg. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2015 at St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. with a Redemptorist Father officiating. Interment will be in Hamerlik Community Cemetery. Special thank you to Dr. B. MacMillan and the Palliative Care staff for the care and compassion shown to Mary. So sorry to hear about Mary passing. A very nice lady and a gentle soul. I had many visits at Samorodny's way back when we were all still living on the farm. So sorry to read about the passing of Mrs. Samorodny a very special mother , grandmother and sister. I only met Mary once when we bought some cattle but haven't forgotten her kind and gentle spirit.
