MARY BOBYCHUK (nee FUNK) Peacefully on May 16, 2015, surrounded by her loving family, Mary earned her angelic wings and was welcomed into heaven by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Mary was born on April 9, 1933, near Swift Current, SK on the family farm, to parents Gertrude and Henry Funk. Mom was predeceased her husband of 50 years, Russell Bobychuk, her in-laws Ignatius and Rose Bobychuk, and brothers-in-law Joseph Bobychuk, Donald Kiesman, and Jack Streeter, as well as her dog Chad and grand-dog Bobbi. She leaves to mourn her children, Terry (Janice), Rick (Brenda), Carla, and David (Halyna), and her beautiful grandchildren, Travis, Chelsea, Brittney, Ryan and Nicole Bobychuk, and Paul and Stefan Kinasevych. She also leaves to mourn, her siblings Trudy Streeter, Nettie Kiesman, Jake Funk and Kathy Baron, brother-in-law, John Baron, sister-in-law Kathy Bobychuk, and numerous nephews and nieces. Also in mourning is her "adopted son" Claude Bernier. Mom grew up in the Saskatchewan and Manitoba communities of Swift Current, Morden, St. Pierre-Jolys, Lac du Bonnet, and River Hills. Eventually Mom moved to Winnipeg, where she met and married Russell at age 19, eventually settling in their Garden City home for 53 years. Mom worked tirelessly as a stay at home mom until all of her children were in school. Then Mom returned to work as an educational assistant in Seven Oaks School Division, spending 25 years helping struggling students. She had fond memories working at Collicutt and Margaret Park Schools, and made lasting friendships with her co-workers. Mom also was a very spiritually strong woman. She attended liturgy at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church being a parishioner there for over 40 years. Reading daily devotions and praying were central in Mom's life. Her faith and devotion to God was inspirational and helped Mom greatly until her final days. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23 at St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave. with Fr. Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 4515 Main St. In lieu of flowers, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba, Canadian Lung Association, or the Winnipeg Humane Society. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at Riverview and CancerCare Manitoba for all the care and support shown to Mom. Thanks to Fr. Bohdan Lukie, for his spiritual visits, prayers and offers of communion to Mom over the years she could not attend liturgy, and recent visits by Sister Zoe. We will love you forever and always, but we all know you love us more! MEMORY ETERNAL! VICHNAYA PAMYAT! KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-956-2193
