Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH BANERA It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Elizabeth ("Elsie") Banera, our beloved mother, Babi, Great Babi, sister, aunt and friend on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Elsie was born on February 9, 1922 in Insinger, Saskatchewan, daughter of George and Mary Haluke. She was the ninth child of thirteen siblings. Elsie will be lovingly remembered by her son Neil (Livia Meret) and grandsons Jeff (Ashley) and Kevin (Katie); daughter-in-law, Anna and grandsons Tim (Sheri-Lynn) and Matthew (Karen); great-grandchildren Evan, Noah, Sydney, Dane and Luke; daughter-in-law, Patricia and granddaughter Kristina. She is also survived by her sisters, Caroline, Jean and Adella and many nieces and nephews in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Greeting in her in Heaven with open arms will be husband, Nicholas and sons, Gerald ("Nick") and Terrance ("Terry"). Elsie began working at a very young age and used the skills she learned on the farm to become a successful self-employed entrepreneur in the home care industry. She took great pride in cooking and baking, and cherished the relationships she developed with her clients. Elsie loved her family very much and her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was a very religious lady and was a member of St. Josephat's parish, and later at Holy Family on Grant. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Holy Family Home for caring for her, especially her dear Joseph. The family would also like to thank the staff at the Grace Hospital for making Babi's last few days very peaceful and comfortable. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2 at St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Avenue, with Fr. Bohdan Lukie, C.Ss.R and Fr. John Sianchuk, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Lubov Foundation, directed to Holy Family Home. Elsie's son Terry (Pat) was a close friend of my mom and late father,(Patricia & David Williams). Elsie always took the time to send cards and well wishes to us as her "extended family". We lost touch a few years ago, but she will be deeply missed & loved. Our sincere condolences to the family.
