HOWARD MICHAEL SQUIRK Howard Michael Squirk died, after a brief hospitalization at Seven Oaks Hospital, Saturday, May 30, 2015. He was born in Winnipeg to Michael and Anne Squirk (deceased 1972 and 2012) on May 8, 1939. He was a loving and supportive son, husband for 49 years to Bettyann (Cook) and brother to Virginia Ona Main (James, deceased). A lifelong resident of Winnipeg, Howard, self-employed, was a visual communicator, draughtsman, and therapist, with the "magic hands" to help others and to bring sunshine and hope to any situation. He was an amazingly kind, gentle soul who was constantly putting others before himself. With his unique curiosity and mischievous sense of humour he loved to talk with people, always the same with everyone. His love of humanity was beyond explanation. He will be greatly missed by many. A much appreciated and skilled driver, he travelled extensively in Manitoba and west, was a talented photographer, and loved to fish. A celebration of Howard's life will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Highway, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to donate in Howard's memory can do so to CancerCare (Research) Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 0V9.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • We met Howard many year's ago when he was part of the local Film & TV Club, and he came to Lord Selkirk Toastmaster meetings to film us at work. Later he did our wedding pictures in 2013. We were moving in different circles after that, but occasionally ran into one another. He was a sweet soul and will be missed. - Posted by: Thea & Al Ostermann (Friend) on: Jun 15, 2015

  • Rest In Peace my good friend, fellow photographer and physician to the sick. You are: Selfless, to a fault; always there, not just for a friend, but for everyone you knew; NEVER an ill word said about anyone; always happy and outgoing; multi-talented; a visionary; a thoughtful, pious, and dedicated follower of the "universe", the Light, of God. We still have not that Christmas drink, even after all these years, but someday.......I miss your sense of Humour, and I miss YOU. Love Dianne and Dan - Posted by: dianne and daniel figsby (friend) on: Jun 03, 2015
