SOPHIE DYNA (nee ROGALSKA) Peacefully on the evening of June 2, 2015, Sophie passed away. Her husband Walter predeceased her in 1992. Sophie leaves to mourn her children: daughters, Alice (Mike Bager), Yolanda, son Edward (Deb) and grandson Ken, as well as many family and friends in Canada, England, Poland and Australia. Sophie was born Zofia Rogalska, on May 15, 1924 in Wolyn, Poland. In 1946, while in the Polish Army, 2nd Corp, under British command, she met and married Wladyslaw in Italy. They immigrated to England in 1946 and then to Canada in 1953, working and living in Winnipeg since then. Sophie worked until 1980, retiring at that time to enjoy the cottage she and her family and friends had built at Grand Beach. She greatly enjoyed mushroom and blueberry picking. Sophie was a great cook and baker. Her perogies and birthday tortes will be greatly missed. She also volunteered at Folklorama at the Krakow Pavilion. She was a member of Sokol. For many years, with great pride and pleasure, she maintained the library at Sokol. Her surprising knowledge and opinions of so many diverse subjects will be sorrowfully missed. A thank you to all the staff of Fred Douglas Lodge, especially Willow Unit, and previously Elm Unit, for their ongoing respect and compassionate care of Mom. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street. Pallbearers will be Marian Wojdala, David Wojdala, Krzysztof Staroscik, Rafel Targosz, Mark Targosz, Angel Gibbons, Julius Rucki and Ken Stakiw.
