MARIETTE PARSONS (nee BERARD) We are sad to announce the passing of Mariette on July 6, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre. Mariette was born March 1, 1941 at St. Boniface Hospital, and her parents were Edmond and Marie Ange Berard. Mariette was predeceased by her husband Denis in 1984, and her son Todd in 2009. She leaves to mourn her son Jeff; sister Madeleine Alarie (Emile); nephews Renel and Richard Alarie; niece Nichole (Mike), and their children Corey, Austin, Kaylah, Dan, Janelle, Xavier, Page and Abigail. Mariette was a very hard worker, cared about people and their feelings. She was very musical and could play the piano, organ and the accordion. She taught at Kent's Music for many years. She also worked for the City of Winnipeg, Water Department where she made several good friends. Mariette also worked alongside her son Jeff in real estate at RE/MAX for 10 years before retiring. She loved travelling all over the U.S. with her family and Mexico with her husband Denis. One of her favourite places was Las Vegas to play the nickel machines and Joker Poker. She also went around the world alone for one year after her husband passed away. She loved Mexico and leaned to speak and write Spanish. In addition Mariette spoke French as was her heritage, and even leaned Japanese in preparation for the world tour. Mariette loved the many cultures when travelling and often spent time in the non-tourist areas. She also lived in Chile for two years, and often helped the poor and always pulled for the underdog. Mariette loved pets and owned many such as cats, dogs and birds. Her current pet cat Scooter is now with her son Jeff. Mariette loved a good cup of coffee, conversation, playing cards, curling, going for walks, watching detective shows and was willing to join in on most anything. She also had a passion for doing genealogy and worked on her family tree and has thousands of entries and traced her roots back to France in the 1600s. As were her wishes, Mariette wanted to be cremated and to be buried with her husband Denis at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street. She did not want a funeral but rather a private family gathering upon her passing. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to the charity of your choice if you wish. 204-586-8044
