Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • My cousin Wayne came to live with us when he was 16 and myself 3 he will always be the best brother I could have ever wished for. On the Saturday after my birthdays him and I would go to a movie from as far back as I can remember. It was my present a movie, popcorn, pop + bridge mixture. After he would take me bowling or to play pinball. He would carry me on his shoulders down to the Blue boy cafe and buy me vanilla icecream, taking me to banana park and us looking for change in the bushses. He said people would often drop their change there, I would always find some little did I know he was dropping the change. Out of all my brothers+sister Wayne always treated me well, spent time with me + cared about me. Only by a twist of fate did I find him beside his mom,my Auntie Violet. I was telling my friend for 2 hrs about the things Wayne and I did together, he decided to check on his mom in Brookside cemetary. I stayed in the car while he went to see his mom, then he motions me over I got out of the car and right next to his mom's headstone is Auntie Violets and her only child Wayne.Lucky for me Wayne and I,we went to our last movie about 4yrs ago. I haven't spoken to a family member in 25yrs and phoned Wayne to see if we could go see a movie, he said yes. We went to Northgate theatre, watched a movie+after went for a coffee at Tim Hortons. He was concerned that there might be something wrong and said no I just missed him and wanted to see him again. Wayne was always there for me,spending time with me,never hurting me,caring for me like no other family including my parents.I am gratful to have been able to spend time together one last time, although he will always be with me.My deepest sympathy to Patty and the children,Wayne is the best man I have ever known. A man who beat the odds in life that he was faced with,Wayne and Patty loved each other truly, they had 3 beautiful kids and he made a real life for his family and himself. I feel sadness knowing we won't see each other again and am happy though that you and your mom are together again.Your kind and loving nature will always be remembered. I love you Wayne my cousin and brother, always in my heart love Maria. - Posted by: Maria Correia (cousin/sister) on: Sep 19, 2015

  • We were shocked and saddened to read of Wayne's passing. Although we knew Wayne only in his professional role with Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE) at Box Office, we enjoyed regularly talking with this kind and helpful man, who always greeted us. We will miss seeing him. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. - Posted by: Karen & Richard Howell and Robin Shreiber (Patrons of the PTE) on: Jul 12, 2015

  • For many years, we all have seen the people on the front line box office at PTE. Whether we bought tickets on occasion or were subscribers, Wayne was always there in the box office, a master at his job. He was patient, kind, and dedicated..you could just tell that by hardly knowing him, however it is true that first impressions are important..we will miss seeing his kind and familiar face this and every upcoming season. My condolences to his family and his PTE family on this sad day. - Posted by: Laurie GydĂ© (Patron and supporter of Prairie Theatre Exchange) on: Jul 11, 2015
