Born: Oct 05, 1933
Date of Passing: Jul 26, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCIS DOMINIC (FRANK) KUBINEC October 5, 1933 - July 26, 2015 With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing at 81 years of our husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jeanne; their seven children, Joe (Susan), Mark (Bonnie), Gary (Linda), Chris (Laura), Greg (Angel), Francine (Ray) and Michael (Linda Rose); grandchildren, Atom, Cynthia (Clare), Ali, Robyn (Rodney), Brad, Hannah (Ian), Zoe, Peter (Jen), Brett (Taylor), Gaetan (Josie), and Melissa (Luke); and great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Marley, and Jackson; along with his sister Marlene. He was predeceased by his parents, Ilona and Stephen Kubinec, stepmother Mary and brother, Stephen Jr. Frank was born and raised in Fort William, Ontario. While working at a summer job at the mill he severely injured his left wrist and required a year away in rehab where he became a ping pong champion. Continuing his rehab he took a job as a truck driver at Burns Meats. While on deliveries he met Jeanne Lajat and they were married on September 5, 1953. During their 61 years of marriage they enjoyed travelling and camping. Frank participated in bowling, curling and golf in which he won the Port Arthur Country Club Golf Tournament with his wooden clubs, but his greatest love was his family. He spent many Sundays with the family at BBQ's, picnics, reunions, and visits to extended family and friends. He coached hockey and baseball and was always there to pass on his advice and knowledge. Frank was always quick with a joke and had an amazing memory that was evident in his story telling. At family gatherings if you couldn't find Frank, just listen for the sound of his grandchildren laughing, and you would find him telling stories and giving out goodie bags. He worked at Burns Meats over 40 years moving on into sales. This work took him and his family back and forth between Thunder Bay (Branch Manager) and Winnipeg (Western Zone Sales Manager). After retirement due to Frank's mobility issues they moved to Paradise Village and then into Devonshire House where they made many great friends. Thank you to Dr. Caners and nursing staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. There will be a private gathering for family to honour his memory and celebrate his life. He will be interned with his Mother and Father in Thunder Bay, Ontario in October. He is loved and will be missed. Voyage Funeral Home, 204-668-3151

As a young man, I had the privilege of working with Frank at Burns. I know that my late father, Leon respected frank and considered him a friend. I'm confident the two of them are sharing stories as I write this. - Posted by: Tony Beaulieu (friend from many years ago) on: Aug 03, 2015
