Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICARDO KLASSEN Ricardo Klassen, of Winnipeg, died on August 2, 2015. He was born in Filadelfia, Paraguay on September 13, 1969. He spent his first five years in Uruguay. In 1975 he moved with his family to Winnipeg, where he went to school and university. In 1992 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg. His circle of friends was very large and evolved during his lifetime. He was active in the youth group at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, were he was baptized. Ricardo is survived by his mother: Agnes Klassen of Winnipeg, MB; four siblings: Elfriede Dueck of Fredericton, NB; Adolfo Klassen of Saint-Lazare, QC; Sieglinde Klassen of St. Anne, MB; and Carlos Klassen of Linden, AB. Ricardo was predeceased by his father Peter Klassen. He spent the last six weeks of his life at the Health Sciences Centre. During this time, many friends and family came to visit him. His family is very thankful for the support that he received from his friends. There was not a day without visitors. In fact, we were thankful that the hospital removed the restriction of two visitors at a time. His room was often filled with people laughing and telling stories. The notes, the flowers, Slurpees, chocolate milk, and baked goodies that were left in his room were very much appreciated. If we have not thanked you in person, then accept our thanks this way. The funeral service will be held on August 6, at 11:00 a.m., at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay, Winnipeg, followed by light refreshments. Viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Mennonite Memorial Gardens.

Richard would order tea at Baked Expectations, but each time, would make Ricardo recite the extensive list of caffeine and herbal teas. After a few visits, an exasperated Ricardo, said: "Well, you know, they haven't changed in twenty years"! We would also speak with him at Casa. It was always a pleasure to talk to Ricardo. - Posted by: Richard & Lucille Kwiatkowski (Former patrons of Baked & Casa Grande) on: Aug 06, 2016

Ricardo it was so fun working with you. My favorite memory with you was singing along to Boney M Christmas album at Baked. I felt like we were family, it helped that we could both speak low german and share a laugh. You were so handsome, charming and smart. I will forever remember you that way. - Posted by: Tanya Blatz (coworker ) on: Aug 11, 2015

My condolences to the Klassen family. May you receive love and strength from family and friends. I was sadden to hear of Ric's passing. I knew him through Chris. Ricardo used to bring Desserts from Baked Expectations to share with the staff of Happenings at the end of the night. He and Chris watched my baby boy a few times. I will miss his wit and straight-forward manner. I'm so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Faith (Friend) on: Aug 07, 2015

I worked with Ricardo years ago. He was such a gem. Always eager to laugh our restaurant misery away and dance to music which he always played too loud when his favourite songs came on. He was an absolute pleasure to be around. I remember him quietly asking me to make food for a homeless man who used to come around the restaurant periodically. Me telling Ricky not to and Ricky insisting I make the food and wrapping it up to sneak out the back door to a hungry human. Such compassion and joy for life. I'll always remember those times. - Posted by: Julie M (Ex coworker) on: Aug 07, 2015
