Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDUANE EDWARD CLEFSTAD It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Duane Clefstad on August 12, 2015. Duane was born in Winnipeg on May 7, 1953. He was predeceased by his father Harold Clefstad and is survived by his mother Joan Radford. Duane's whole world was devoted to the love of his life, and best friend since junior high: his dear wife Chrissy, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage. Duane's second love was his family: son and daughter-in-law Duane and Anita, grandchildren, Emma Faith and grandson little Duane; and son Michael and fiancé Daryn. Sons Duane Jr and Michael made him so proud. Duane loved his brothers Oren and Bill and enjoyed their company with all his nieces and nephews. He and Chrissy loved Hawaii and the cottage at Minaki. Duane's third love was his work and good friends with NAV Canada, where he worked with for 41 years. No formal service will be held as per his wishes and cremation has taken place. Thank you to Dr. Krahn, Dr. Reimer, Dr. Gillette, Dr. Toews and all the staff at Bethesda Hospital and the CancerCare Staff for all their efforts. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Duane may be made to Southern Health-Santé Sud, (In memo line: Bethesda Regional Health Centre-Cancer Care Program), Box 470, La Broquerie, MB R0A 0W0. The Clefstad family on the West Coast, Judy, Jim and Lloyd send our sincerest condolences to our family in Winnipeg. It was very sad news to hear of Duane's passing!! I/we had not seen Duane for several years, but, my fondest memories of him are at the cabin at Minaki in past summers. His sense of humour and genuine spirit kept us ALL laughing and entertained at the lakeside. My father, Rich Clefstad, Harold's brother would have been very sad to hear this news, had he still be with us, but, in fact can personally enjoy Duane's company, once again, in heaven:) - Posted by: Judy Clefstad Nygren (cousin) on: Aug 25, 2015

Duane Clefstad and I worked together at Dominion Store in St. Boniface in the 60's. I was a cashier and he was my bag boy. He was such a handsome young man with his blonde hair and good looks in his grocery white coat uniform and he got a lot of looks from all the females which really embarrassed him and he would blush bright red. He married our neighbor Christine Negrych and they were introduced by my little brother Doug who was a very dear friend of Duane's all thru' school. We had a lot of fun times working together at Domo and he had a great sense of humor and the ability to laugh at himself. My brother always let me know what he and Christine were up to as I had married and moved away to the States. I still live in California and was saddened to learn of Duane's passing. My deepest sympathies to you and your family Christine, Duane was a truly great guy. God Bless. - Posted by: Linda (Broeska) Lane (High School Friend) on: Aug 17, 2015

I very much enjoyed working with Duane on a number of major projects over the past 15 years. I found him to be a cear thinker who listened well and was frank and open in exploring all facets of an issue or idea. My team assisted Duane on his initiaives in ATC Training, both at NAV CANADA and in the international marketplace. Duane himself helped to put together an excellent training package -- ATC for Dummies if you will -- for me and my staff in the Communications department that proved very worthwhile. Whatever the project or subject matter, I always knew that I would get a straight answer, a friendly smile, and a helping hand from Duane. - Posted by: John Morris (Work colleague, friend) on: Aug 17, 2015

Duane was my best friend in grade school and during our time as Sea Cadets in Winnipeg we were in the band together. I have fond memories of taking the train out to their family's lake cabin and exploring Minaki. In those formative years it was hard to imagine a better friend than Duane. Christine lived directly behind me in the neighborhood and I have vague memories of introducing them. I last spent a few moments with Duane a number of years ago while he was visiting Winnipeg and while he was still living in Ottawa. We picked up the conversation where we left off. You can do that with best friends. My sincere condolences to Chris and the rest of his family. I will miss you forever my friend. - Posted by: Doug Broeska (Grade School Best Friend) on: Aug 17, 2015

If someone asked me to say something negative about Duane, I would find it very difficult to think of something to say; I would have to be quiet which is difficult for me to do. I loved the way he talked about his family especially when he would mention "his Chrissy" he would just light right up. My condolences to his family and friends, Duane was a wonderful man, he will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him. - Posted by: Sharon Larin (Duane was my Manager for a few years) on: Aug 15, 2015
