Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSE JACINTO (JOE) CARVALHO Peacefully, on September 12, 2015, Jose Jacinto (Joe) Carvalho soared atop of the wings of an eagle to meet family and friends greeting him at the entrance of the pearly gates. Joe was born in the city of Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel, Portugal on December 29, 1935. At the age of 20, he immigrated to Canada beginning with a short stay in Kenora until finally making Winnipeg his home. His participation in the growth of Winnipeg was tremendous as he was skillfully trained as a welder and pipefitter with his final position being with the Winnipeg School Division #1. Joe was an avid soccer fan with a passion for his beloved team Benfica based in Lisbon, Portugal. He followed the game stats with such fervor that he was considered to be the honorary coach based in Canada. His love for the team went as far as him calling Benfica's general manager daily to discuss game line-up, team practices and overall strategy. He also went as far as to name his privately owned social club "Casa Benfica". His passion for eagles was vast and throughout the years family would gift him with eagle related memorabilia. He was also a member of the Portuguese Army as an artillery 2nd class private based in Ponta Delgada from 1953 to 1958. He was predeceased by his father Joau and his mother Carolina along with his siblings Eleuterio and Maria (Salvatino). He is survived by his three children Charles (Pety), Richard (Mary), and Kathleen; his companion Evelyn Csuk and her three children Christopher (Breanne), Gregory (Kari) and Joanna (Manuel). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Charlie (Valerie), Jason (Cindy), Daniel, Jared, Adam (Maria), Anthony, Katryna, Braeden, Sydney-Jade, Chantel, Julien, Brianna, Matthew, Josh, and Taylor. He was also pleased to have been blessed with six great-grandchildren, Chaz, Meadow, Olivia, Alina, Aleao and Darius. Mourning his loss are his siblings Manuel (Carmen), Joau (Beth), Lidia (Tony), Francisco (Blanche), Henrique (Maria-Lucia), Antonio, Edmundo (Tina), and sister-in-law Rosa, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers to be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at St. Edwards Roman Catholic Church, 836 Arlington Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with a reception to follow.
