EDWARD (EDDIE) STANLEY ZEBRINSKI It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward (Eddie) Stanley Zebrinski; son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and Uncle Grandpa to those who knew him. He leaves to mourn his sisters Rose Hildebrand (Abe), Betty Van der Lek, Debbie Delfosse (Marcel), brother-in-law Raymond Couture, nephew Greg Hildebrand, and nieces Michele Couture, Melanie Couture, and Katherine Delfosse, plus many friends and family. Also dear to him was Hayley-Anne Hiemstra. He was predeceased by his father Stanley Zebrinski, mother Ann Zebrinski (nee Gottfried), sisters Agnes Zebrinski and June Couture, and brother-in-law Bill Van der Lek. Eddie was born August 27, 1941. He grew up in the Gimli and Arnes area and moved to Winnipeg in his late teens. He will be remembered as being larger than life spreading joy and laughter with anyone he met. He was active in many organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, and weekly bowling leagues, as well as a generous donator to the Winnipeg Humane Society. One of his greatest accomplishments was his dedication to his 27 years of sobriety. Eddie was most known as a marriage commissioner performing hundreds, maybe even thousands, of weddings throughout Manitoba. Eddie loved his family and friends, all kinds of animals; especially pussy cats, vacationing in hotspots, Vancouver, as well as trips to Gimli. He was notorious for his dirty jokes and making perogies while listening to Ciocia Maria singing Ukrainian music. A private family inurnment will occur at Our Lady of Mercy in Finns, MB. The celebration of Eddie's life will occur on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gimli Lakeview Resort and Hotel in Gimli, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any local animal shelters in support of Ed's love of animals. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

I met Eddie in the early '60s in Winnipeg. we both were working at National Drugs. I didn't realize at the time we were both the same age. we both seemed to be trying to figure out what we wanted to be in life. we spent a lot of time at a and w and cruising north Winnipeg in my first car a "hot Morris minor+. I moved to calgary in 1964 and grew apart. I see not surprising by the tributes he had lots of friends and of course a large family. was saddened to hear of his passing when checking cropo funeral home for details from another friend - Posted by: Russ Tait (Friend) on: Nov 26, 2015

I just heard today. Ed was a security guard where I worked. Everyone in the building was on a first name basis with Ed. He was always such a joy and funny as heck. I have to say that most security guards would just give a polite nod to say hi, not Ed, always a smile ear to ear, he was like part of our group/company. Rest in Peace Ed. - Posted by: Tiffany Lepp (Acquaintance ) on: Nov 23, 2015

I have known Eddie for a long time, back in the Maryland Hotel days and then in the Assiniboine Club days. Eddie was a good guy and always happy. RIP my old friend. - Posted by: Tom Hamilton (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2015

This past week has been very hard knowing you are gone. you were the best Uncle Grandpa I could have asked for. Whenever bringing you up I almost always got the question "what is an Uncle Grandpa?" I would laugh and go into a detailed story in who you are to me never leaving out how funny, loving, and important you are to me. The way you helped my dad has helped me greatly because it gave him a place to be with me. I am so honored to meet and be a part of your family. Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas dinners were definatley filling, even though you always complained about how picky of a eater I am. All I can do now is continue to make you proud, and I know I'll never let you down. I am aware this is probably usless writing this here but I just wanted you to know that I am doing great in school and I have won so many scholarships for this year and was one of the top 5 averages going into the education field, I know you would have loved to hear that. I wish with all of my heart that I could have seen you one last time, I searched all summer for you as much as I could and finally when I found how to get to you it got taken from me. I know you are left now with all happy memories of me and I know you are at peace knowing me and your family will always be connected. I love you Uncle Grandpa. - Posted by: Hayley Anne Hiemstra () on: Sep 30, 2015

I met Ed when he worked at 400 St Mary. I was a supervisor that would check up on guards but found myself wanting to stop and chat with Ed when I had down time and it was never just a few minutes. When I no longer worked for the company I still kept in touch with him and even having a bbq with him before I was shipped off with the army. I saw him not that long ago, he was so happy to see me and didn't want me to go but I told him next time I would bring him a coffee but that didn't happen. I will always remember how we would greet each other on the phone with a big hello. Ed you're a true friend and you will be missed by me. I will light a candle for you, my deepest regrets to your family and friends who will also miss you cause you were an amazing man Ed Zebrinski with an I. You're with your mom now Ed. - Posted by: Rob Davidson (Friend) on: Sep 29, 2015

Ed was always full of life, could light up a room and be the life of a party. He always had a smile on his face, always ready to give a hug and a joke. I am sure all the Gottfried clan that went before you were there waiting for you and your smile. You will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Valerie and Randy Hutch (Cousin) on: Sep 29, 2015

I am so sorry to hear of Eddie's passing. Just the mention of his name brings back so many of my favourite memories. Thanksgivings at Eddie's place were always the best times ever! He loved bringing all the family together and made sure everyone had a great time and left very full and happy. Eddie could always make me laugh with his jokes and funny stories. I always wanted to tell you how awesome you were when you married us. It was a fun service we have always remembered, mostly laughing but making it fun! Then we would see you at The Red River Ex and you always made a big scene saying "Are you two still married!!!"..... Thank-you for marrying us. Will be 25 years next year - you would have been invited to the celebration. Respect! You will be missed. - Posted by: Corina & Dave Sellner (Marriage Comminssioner) on: Sep 29, 2015

For years at the end of a work day I would pass Ed at his station on the main floor of 400 St. Mary Avenue and would hear him say "Good Night, good night" and I would wave. I would stop when I had a chance for one of his stories and always left with a smile on my face. I have missed him since he fell ill. I am thankful that I had a chance to meet such a kind man. - Posted by: Charmaine Markwart (passerby) on: Sep 29, 2015
