Please accept our most sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. Sophie's lively personality, her friendliness, kindness, honesty and generosity made her a very special person. We always enjoyed her company and were pleased that we could visit her in August in her new "home". She will be remembered with great fondness. Extending our deepest sympathy to you, Betty, Dianne, Leona and your families. Aunt Sophie was a special Aunt to us. She was always kind, loving and interested in everything and everyone! She supported me through some difficult times and I will miss our chats. She always was gracious and had good food at the ready to share! We appreciated her jolly, non-judgemental and caring demeaner. I was always amazed at her incredible memory of names and dates of birthdays! She was a wonderful lady and we will miss her! To Sophie She was truly a woman ahead of her time-raising a family - working outside the home and she drove a car!!!!! I was about 7 then and amazed that she drove a car. In the winter she would often take us to the Old Kildonan Hill. Dianne & I would sled for hours while the moms watched us inside having coffee. I always enjoyed coming to the Dyck's on Monday, that was the wash day and coffee goody day. Now in the later years we enjoyed coffee out and about. May you rest in peace Sophie we miss you. My wife and I visited Uncle Jake and Aunt Sophie on our honeymoon in 1970. Aunt Sophie talked and talked and talked until finally Uncle Jake said, "Soph! They're on their honeymoon! Let them go to bed!" I telephoned her this past summer and she instantly knew my voice - even though we haven't talked for a long while. She remembered my birthday and those of so many more. Now, dear Aunt Sophie, you can be reunited to your sister (my Mom) and "catch up" to your hearts content. May your memory be eternal. - Posted by: Albert Nikkel (Nephew) on: Oct 21, 2015

My Dearest Friend Sophie, We have been friends for over 50+ years and phoned each other daily. We never spoke an angry word and never had an argument. We have been through happy times and very sad times. This past while was very sad. In your voice I knew you were weak and I prayed that you would get better and strong again. In God's plan that was not meant to be. Rest in peace my dearest friend. I miss you and love you. Until we meet again Love Anne - Posted by: Anne Martyshuk (friend, Garfield Street neighbor) on: Oct 20, 2015

I will truly miss Sophie whom I got to know quite well as her neighbour. She was a knowledgeable woman who remembered so many things from the past, it would bother her not to remember something then she would start going through the alphabet till she came to the letter to jog her memory and she would remember. Another one of her traits was her baking bread, she always made sure to include me with buns just out of the oven, so delicious, I will also miss her baking cake for us every so often. Oh Sophie you were a GREAT neighbour. I miss you and cared for you so much. Rest In Peace my friend. - Posted by: Evelyn Lapensee (Neighbour, friend.) on: Oct 20, 2015
