JORGE (GEORGE) MANUEL ELEUTERIO March 14, 1955 - October 23, 2015 After a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, George passed away, surrounded by loved ones, at Deer Lodge Centre on October 23, 2015 at the age of 60. George is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Margarida; sons, Dennis Eleuterio (Chelsa Carter) and Jason Eleuterio (granddaughter, Jane); sister, Grace Eleuterio and her children Danny Krawchuk (Shannon), Nancy Webb and Kelly Drobot (Gene); Margaret's sister, Luisa Ferreira and her sons Danny Ferreira and Gary Ferreira (Sonia). George was blessed with a loving, extended family who is mourning this painful loss. George was predeceased by both his parents, Maria Evelina and Laurenio Eleuterio; Margaret's parents, Angelina and Luis Correia; brother-in-law and friend, Manuel Ferreira. George was born on March 14, 1955 in Azores, Portugal. In 1963, his family immigrated to Winnipeg and settled in the Central Neighbourhood. In 1976, Margaret and George were married and set off to build their legacy. They were blessed with two sons, Dennis and Jason. The affect George had on people was infectious, his laugh and genuine conversation will be remembered dearly by everyone who had the privilege to meet him. George was a family man and worked hard to provide for his family. George was an avid sports fan and forever loyal to his favourite teams: the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets. George also had an affinity for wrestling. George found the career that he was truly passionate about at Nelson River Construction as a Sewer and Water Foreman. George was an incredibly loyal employee with an outstanding work ethic. He took much pride until his last days in the fact that his son Dennis carries out his legacy in the industry. He was so very fond of his colleagues and took pride in the work they did. The Eleuterio family sincerely wishes that all those who knew George to please remember him as the strong, healthy man that he once was and not the toll that the MS took on him. The family would like to express genuine gratitude to extended family and friends during this painful journey (not only for the last week but also the past 15 years). Special thanks to all Deer Lodge Centre's Fifth Floor staff for the outstanding care of George over the past four years. Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel. 1442 Main St. on Wednesday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. N. on Thursday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m., with interment at Assumption Cemetery. Flowers are respectfully declined with the most grateful hearts. Donations to the MS Society of Canada in the memory of George are appreciated for other individuals and families struggling with MS.
