ALLAN POMMER It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Allan Pommer on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the age of 78 at the Beausejour Hospital. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Carol of 38 years, children Kevin (Elke) Lee, Corinne (Steven), Daryl (Christine) Rushinka, and Pamela (Paul) Vocadlo, 10 grandchildren, brothers Ron (Leone) and Don, as well as many nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his parents Ben and Hannah Pommer. Allan was employed by Manitoba Hydro for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He was an all-star athlete, excelling in all sports. Allan loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He and Carol enjoyed travelling to many destinations, settling at their winter home in Weslaco, Texas. Allan loved spending time with family and friends. In 1951, Allan was awarded the Gilt Cross for gallantry by the Governor General for saving the life of a drowning lad. Allan will be very sadly missed and loved forever. Special thank you to East Gate Lodge staff for their compassionate care and also to Dr. Nick van Rensburg. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, at Sobering Funeral Chapel in Beausejour. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Allan's memory to East Gate Personal Care Home, Box 1690, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0.
