The RCAF and the Air Transportation community has lost a great man! Tom was a tremendously focused and capable leader, one who spearheaded the daunting effort to put in place a lasting Air Transportation training and development program for both Air Force officers and non-commissioned members. I had the pleasure of being part of Tom's Air Command HQ transportation staff in the mid-80s. Tom was delighted when he was appointed as Honorary Colonel for 1 Air Movements Sqn, while in place in Winnipeg. His wisdom, sound advice and precious counsel was of significant value to me, as CO, and to all members of the Sqn. Rest in peace, Tom, now that you are reunited with your beloved Olive. I salute you! - Posted by: LCol Jean Mallais (Employee while on staff at Air Command HQ and Commanding Officer of 1 Air Mov Sqn while Tom was Hono) on: Nov 20, 2015

Col Tom is one of the true heroes in my life. He established the Air Transportation cadre that continues to thrive thanks to his leadership and example. One of the giants - his legacy lives on. Per Ardua Ad Astra - Posted by: BGen Mark Matheson (Colleague) on: Nov 15, 2015

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of this "great" man who served as a mentor and role-model for me and many others throughout my/their careers. It was his singular efforts and tenacity in the 80s which helped him to transform the Air Transportation Officer and NCM professional development system into a highly specialized and professional body and gave Air Force Officers and NCMs the opportunity to fairly compete in their careers alongside their army colleagues. He was without a doubt one of the most principled, hard-working and caring bosses that I had ever worked for. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will live on! My thoughts and prayers are with the family. - Posted by: Col (Ret'd) Jerry Gillis (Former employee of his while he served as SSOTN, Air Command Headquarters) on: Nov 15, 2015
