JOAO MANUEL BERNARDO Joao Manuel Bernardo, age 74, of Sao Miguel, Acores passed away at home in Winnipeg on the evening of Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Joao was born on June 24, 1941. He was the first child of Maria Conceicao and Manuel Bernardo. He married his wife Maria dos Ramos Pavao on July 10, 1966 in Candelaria, Sao Miguel. Along with their three children, they moved to Canada in 1971 where they had their fourth daughter later on in life. He worked hard to provide for his family. Joao spent the last 14 years of his life enjoying his retirement with family and friends. Joao is survived by his wife, four daughters, four grandchildren whom he adored, sister, sons-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, and with many nieces, nephews and cousins along with family in Mississauga and Portugal. A rosary will be held for those who wish to attend at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street N. Christian burial to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. All those in attendance are welcome to join the family back at the church hall for a reception.
