MARY ZUK It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary at the Victoria Hospital on November 9, 2015. Mary was 81 years of age and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Zuk and Debbie Zois, her grandsons, Erik Zois, Chris (Kat) Zois and her great-grandson, Landon. Born in Shell Lake, Saskatchewan as a Lychak, she moved to Winnipeg, volunteered, played bridge, raised her two daughters and worked at Dalhousie Elementary School. She spent the later years of her life rounding up Wii players, knitting and gathering people together. Mary wanted no funeral services and instead a party, so join us Saturday, November 21 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. as we host a Celebration of Mary at Dakota House, 1145 Dakota Street in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers or donations we ask that you give someone a hug and do a good deed as that would make Mary smile.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dear family. We are very sorry to hear the passing of Mary. When we lived in Regina we spent many times with her. For myself I remember the embroidery that she helped me with and the laughter we shared. Mom and dad will miss her phone calls, and I will miss the updates. Take care girls and I hope one day we will meet again. Dara 0osterlee and family. - Posted by: Joyce and Walter Lychak (Family) on: Nov 21, 2015

  • My deep sympathies to Mary's family on her passing. I was fortunate to work with Mary at Dalhousie for many years. She was so knowledgeable about the school community, so helpful and she had a great sense of humour. I loved her laugh. She kindly shared many of her handmade crafts at Halloween and Christmas to decorate the office to the delight of the young students and made many for my own children as well. Mary had a special talent for assisting the multinational families who made Dalhousie unique. I was so lucky to know her well and I know how much she loved her family, a very special person. - Posted by: Janice Low (Work colleague at Dalhousie) on: Nov 14, 2015
