JOAN PARKE March 7, 1927 - November 17, 2015 Peacefully on November 17, 2015, surrounded by the love of her family, Mom was called home. Joan was born in Manchester, England to Lucy and Thomas Worrall. She was the beloved mother of Geoff (Aggi), Walter (Agnes), Victor (Barb), Peter (Bev), Gene (Bev), Dennis, Chris (Sherry), Pamela (Wayne), Patricia (Jason) and Paul. Mom also leaves to mourn 32 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Victor, son Gene, grandson Troy, and siblings Vera, Lily, Jack, Tom, William and Walter. During the Second World War Mom met and married Victor. Her life journey as a war bride began. Making a home in Thalberg Mom took great pride in raising her children, working in the garden, canning, cooking, and tending the farm animals. She was a hard working, dedicated farm wife and mother. From dawn till dusk her days were never idle. After 43 years Mom made the move to Winnipeg to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Mom loved her new home and made many long lasting friendships at Kildonan Manor. In her retirement Mom enjoyed family gatherings, attending church, garage sales and spending time with what she was proud to call her legacy, her children and grandchildren. Although Mom was dealt many health hurdles in her later life she faced each one with a strong will, deep faith and positive attitude. Prayers will be held on Friday, November 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB. Interment to follow at the Gull Lake Cemetery, Gull Lake, MB. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My mother May is Joan's sister, and friend. Joan and May exchanged letters often, or spoke over the phone for ages, this is how we got to know the great family Parke. My sister and I visited Canada back in the eighties, as did Mum and Dad at a different period we managed to drop in on my Aunty Joan and some of our most excellent cousins. I wish to say I feel privileged to have met one of the greatest moms Winnipeg has known, a huge loss to family, and friends. May memories of Joan live on. - Posted by: Jan Mikosek (Nephew) on: Nov 20, 2015
