LEO MENARD 1921 - 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leo on Friday, November 27, 2015. He will be lovingly remembered by Laurie, his wife of 68 years, his two children, Edward and Marianne McNabb (Don) and his grand-children Tegan and David McNabb. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Leo was born in Gracefield, Quebec. He served six years in the Governor General's Foot Guards in Europe and was discharged from the army in 1945. Leo retired from the postal service in 1977 and enjoyed travelling with Laurie, especially to warmer climes. He spent many hours fishing on Manitoba waters and cherished the lifetime friendships he made. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 3 at 7:00 p.m. at our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m. also at the church, with Msgr. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I have always been very touched by the very romantic story about how Uncle Leo and Auntie Laurie met. Apparently he took one look at Laurie and knew she was the woman for him. Their long and happy life together was a testament to the love they shared. Uncle Leo will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Lynn Purvis (cousin) on: Dec 03, 2015

  • I was sad to hear of Leo's passing. I will always remember the fishing stories, the trip to Pine Falls and those big family meals. I would have liked to attend the service, but I am unable. Peace be with you all. - Posted by: David Pedden (cousin) on: Dec 03, 2015

  • We remember our times with Leo and Laurie at the Royal Scot Hotel in Victoria during winter vacations. Also your 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration. - Posted by: Mabel and Don Boehmer (Friends) on: Dec 02, 2015

  • Leo and my father, Peter Thomas, were fishing buddies. They spent a LOT of time fishing together. He and my dad were good friends, and I have fond memories of Leo as well. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences from Ralph Thomas, Averil Brent (Thomas) and our mother Ruth Thomas. - Posted by: Ralph Thomas (Leo's friend Peter Thomas" son.) on: Dec 01, 2015
