Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I just now saw the obit on Uncle Fat (name I knew him when a child) and felt sad emotions. He ws always kind to my mother and understood her difficulties with my Dad. He was a gentle and full of humour and life and the only Valcourt Uncle I knew. I'm glad he had a good life and that he had so many children and grandchildren to love. - Posted by: marilyn alexander nee valcourt (niece) on: Jun 28, 2017

  • Memories of Gilles go back to 1977 when we moved onto our farm. That is also the year Gilles and Alice got married. He enjoyed coming out to the farm and lending a helping hand. We had to watch him carefully when he hauled bales and repairing the fence line with our first bull, Olly, on the other side breathing down his neck. Guy recalls the time Gilles had a brown Buick with which he had a traffic encounter which had actually bent the frame of the vehicle. He showed up at the farm and asked him to smash him on the other side of the car with our DC Case which had a snow plow in front. It straightened the frame right up!! We will miss him-his positive personality, sense of humour, hospitality, and keen intellect. We liked and loved him. - Posted by: Guy & Julie Douville (Step son and step daughter-in-law) on: Dec 01, 2015

  • So glad that we had a chance to visit with uncle a few years back... what an inspiration he was... he was the last of my mothers siblings. Our deepest sympathies to the family. - Posted by: Barb and Norm Roy (nephew) on: Dec 01, 2015

  • Sincere condolences to the whole family. Remember spending summer holidays at your home and enjoying your Dad's good humor. We visited with him a couple of years ago and he was still so sharp and full of stories about the old days. May he rest in peace! - Posted by: Richard & Elaine (Roy) Sabourin (niece) on: Dec 01, 2015

  • Will always remember the good times we had when Gilles, Alice and many other family members came to Nova Scotia for Clarissa and Darrin's wedding. It was wonderful meeting so many family members. When Don and I visited in Winnipeg a few years later Gilles and Alice took us on a wonderful road trip to see much of Winnipeg and then we enjoyed some time with other family at their home. - Posted by: Don & Betty Rix (Clarissa's Father in law and Mother in-law) on: Dec 01, 2015
