Len & Family We were so sad to hear of Helen's passing on Dec. 27/2015. Helene was a true example of a perfect human being-loving, compassionate, never judging & always encouraging. She always made you feel that you were a "Special Part" of her life and you always felt that you were in a safe harbor in her presence. Helene's passing has left a deep void in our lives and will be greatly missed. Len, may you special memories of Helene bring you peaceful days and mend your broken heart, in time. Much Love and Deepest Sympathy. - Posted by: The Horobec Family (Jim,Joyce,Ryan,Linda,Shamus,Kinsley) (Cousins) on: Jan 05, 2016

I met Helene at the Wellness and immediately liked her. We did spin classes together and we had some common friends. Helene was such a kind soul. When my father passed we went to Cropo she was professional yet loving. She knew him and she treated us like family. I am sending my deepest sympathy to all of you. I am honored to have met Helene and to call her a friend. - Posted by: Lisa Brooks (Friend) on: Jan 05, 2016

Lenny, our condolences to you. I will always remember how Helene made me feel like part of the family from the first day I met you both. Her kindness and warmth was always met with a smile. Her concern for our children never stopped. "Auntie Helene" will always hold a special place in their hearts. We will remember her fondly. Take care, Lenny! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Tammie Sainsbury, Tasia and Jordan Knysh (Friends) on: Jan 03, 2016

Len, Lisa, Greg & Family… Please know how utterly saddened I was to learn of Helene’s recent passing on Boxing Day. Fifty-Seven is too young. She had fought an inspiring and courageous battle over recent years. She hid the pain, selflessly suppressed the grimace so as to not make you feel uncomfortable and never complained – always seeming to plod positively forward despite anything unwelcome life might throw her way. And while many of our Polish kin might lovingly be remembered for their ability to “give ‘er”, this was not Helene. She was much bigger than that. For Helene was, in the purest sense of the word, the classical “giver”. Helene always had a warming smile. She listened more than she spoke. And she always so effortlessly made you feel genuinely welcome in her midst. And she would never pander to people’s baser instincts – leaning instead toward not saying anything. What will I most dearly miss or fondly remember about Helene? I can never repay her for her pivotal role in spearheading (with Len) my own late mother’s surprise 65th birthday party at the Ukrainian Federation on Main. What an absolute party – with music from the D-Drifters!!! And there were her former annual trips out West to the mountains with “the girls” where I would join them for a hello on their way thru Calgary. Yet, most of all, Helene personified calmness and kindness. She was a gentle soul. And for the dysfunction which exists within our own family – and, make no mistake, every family has a measure of it – everyone knew that Helene was not a part of that. Not in the slightest!!! So I thank you Len for bringing Helene into our family. She was an absolutely beautiful human being. And things were always going to be a whole lot saner in our family with someone like her being a part of it. And now she is undoubtedly resting comfortably in heaven among the other angels. Godspeed Helene… Yogi Calgary, Alberta - Posted by: Yogi Henderson (Family) on: Jan 03, 2016

Leonard and Lisa, I'm so sad by the passing of Helen! This year marks 32 years for me working in the funeral profession, and nobody was as professional in this business that I have found over the years as Helen! She took pride in this profession and it showed. It has been my best moments working at Cropo funeral Chapel, and remembering her on Monday morning after a busy weekend everything was in order. I'm sure she put you to work too Len, I thought you guys where a great team, all that you guys did for Tommy and Malcolm when they where alive, simply amazing. I'll be thinking of you guys and see you soon. Rock Fontaine. - Posted by: Rock fontaine ( Colleague) on: Jan 03, 2016

My sincere sympathy to Helene's family, at the time of her passing. Helene was a lovely, quiet yet engaging, person. I remember having many conversations with her in those ol' days, many years ago, either in Rez, while studying, catching a ride home to McCreary, or when she was in the company of her good friends, Joanne, Shelley and Cathy. She was a pleasure to know, and I am so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Laurie Gingera (former fellow resident at Mary Speechly Hall Residence) on: Dec 30, 2015

Len and Family, We are very sorry to hear about your loss. I had the honour to work with Helene in the 1990's when we all worked together at Cropo's Funeral Chapel when Mr. Cropo was still the original owner. We had a lot of fun together and lots of happy memories. Your Wife and Mom as you know, was a wonderful lady and an extremely hard working person and Funeral Director who will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Richard Wojck of Wojcik's Funeral Chapels & Crematorium (Ex-Coworker & Friend) on: Dec 28, 2015
