Elizabeth was born December 22, 1922 in St. Claude, MB. In her early youth the family moved to Winnipeg, where she completed high school at Isaac Newton. She was employed at Brentwood Egg Company, Lakeland Dairies and sold Stanley Home products to supplement the family income. She was married to John Zoochkan in 1953 for 53 years. Due to Dad working with the R.C.A.F., the family moved to Portage la Prairie, Belleville, ON, and back to Winnipeg in 1971 to be close to family and the Ukrainian community. She was a longstanding member of the Lesia Ukrainka Branch serving in many capacities. Elizabeth was proud to be one of the founding members of the Rozmai School of Dance and worked on the executive for many years. Mom's second home was Gull Lake, MB, where she took great pride in hosting gatherings and organizing family reunions. She and Dad enjoyed gardening, travelling and enjoying nature but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mom enjoyed her time at Kildonan House where she and Dad made many new friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Middlechurch for their compassionate care. Special thanks to all those who took time to visit and lift Mom's spirits. She was grateful for the special visits from Father Eugene Maximiuk and members of her church. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 8 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral rite will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main Street with Father Maximiuk officiating. My heart breaks at the news of Betty's passing. Betty was very special to me and I will miss her greatly. It wasn't often that she and I were able to visit but, when we did, I always came away feeling so enlightened and energized. A more kind and gracious person you could never hope to meet. Betty, with her many beautiful qualities, was a very important role model for me and I know I am a better person for having her in my life. - Posted by: Heather Meiklejohn (cousin) on: Jan 05, 2016

My condolences to all the family. My parents Gordon and Beryl McLure were friends of John and Betty when we lived in Portage la Prairie from about 1955, until 1960 when Dad was transferred to Europe. - Posted by: Doreen Gowler (nee McLure), daughter of Gordon and Beryl McLure (Acquaintance from Portage la Praire days) on: Jan 05, 2016
