HOWARD JOHNSTONE Howard Edwin Johnstone, born 1943, joined our Father in Heaven in the early hours of December 30, 2015. In his early years, Howard was very athletic, playing all sports including running, curling, golfing and coaching basketball. He served in the military as a physical education teacher and then later taught junior and high school students English and Social Studies. He had an open heart and a natural capacity to help others, which extended to his friends, family and the AA community. His kindness and generosity was a gift that he shared with many who knew him. Howard spent most of his life in Calgary, retiring in his later years to Winnipeg with his wife Edna. He cherished his three grandsons, Rowan, Cooper, Miles and spent quality time with them, reading, playing pool, tag and so much more. Howard is survived by his wife Edna; three daughters, Michelle, Heather (Mike), Marlene; brother Hugh; and sister Kathy. He was predeceased by his parents and four brothers. Howard's family invites you to celebrate his life at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg, on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. A special thank you to the caring staff at Riverwood Square. The family appreciates donations to the Alzheimer's Society in lieu of flowers.
