MAURO CUTRONE It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mauro Cutrone on January 13, 2016 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 69 years. Mauro is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pasqua; his four children Nic, Teresa (Brian), Pino (Tomomi) and Maria (Chris); his grandchildren Victoria, Maya, Owen, Sophia, Zackery and Isabella; his mother-in-law Maria, and two brothers Saverio and Pasquale, as well as many nieces and nephews in Italy. He was predeceased by his sister Anna, his parents Teresa and Nicolo, as well as infant grandchildren Valentino and Taylor. Mauro was born in Palo Del Colle, Bari, Italy where he met and married his beloved wife in 1965. They moved to Winnipeg in 1967. He worked as a bricklayer, construction worker, tradesperson and ultimately got into the restaurant business, where he is perhaps best known in the community for the string of successful Italian restaurants he owned and operated over the years. He was truly in his element when he could please his friends and customers with his delicious and authentic Italian dishes that he made from scratch. Dad had a great sense of humour and was an especially generous and giving person. He had many struggles and hard times in his life, but he was a fighter and never gave up. Overcoming many obstacles, he was always looking to improve our family's situation and we are so very grateful for the many opportunities that his hard work and foresight afforded us. Until the very end, Dad loved being in the company of his family and took great pride in the achievements of his children. Most of all, he absolutely loved doting on his grandchildren. We love you Dad and will miss you more than words can express. Your memory will live on in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank Dr. Dawe, Dr. Kim and the other doctors and staff at CancerCare Manitoba for the services they provided. Thanks also to all family and friends; your love and support has brought us peace during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at St. Charles Catholic Parish, 320 St. Charles St., Winnipeg with visitation one hour prior. Entombment to follow at Holy Angel Mausoleum.
