Date of Passing: Jan 18, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRICHARD (DICK) ALAN MCELHOES With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Dick McElhoes, aged 84, on January 18, 2016 in Winnipeg. We will never forget his loving nature, intelligence, and sense of humour, which remained with him until the end. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean and their son, David (Analiza); his daughters, Carol (Ben) and Leslie (David); his grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole), Chris (Kate), Tim, Paul (Stacie) and Andy; his great-granddaughter, Charley; his siblings, Fred (Jeannine) and Mary-Jane; his niece, and a handful of nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Waldo and Grace. Dick was born, and lived most of his life, in Winnipeg. After spending a few years with the local police service, he began his career in the insurance industry, which occupied him until his retirement from MPI. Throughout his life, he cultivated many passions: for sailing, football, golf, history, genealogy, and red wine. His ability to sleep standing up is legendary. The service will be held on Saturday, January 23, at 2:00 p.m., at Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway No.1. The family would like to thank the staff in 5E at St. Boniface Hospital for their commendable efforts to keep him with us. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Leslie, sorry to hear of your loss. I remember your dad as a very energetic and fun person to be around. I remember going sailing with you and your family after working a midnight shift at Eaton's. What a blast. Won't ever forget what "coming about" meant. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Pat Vouriot (St. Godard) (School frient) on: Jan 22, 2016
