MICHAEL WAYNE MOLINSKI Suddenly, on January 26, 2016, Michael passed away. Left to cherish his memory are: wife Merilyn (nee Otto), daughter Kerilyn Zielinski, son Kristopher and wife Suzanne, grandchildren Marisa, Cecelia and Tobin Zielinski, Alexa, Lorelie and Seth Molinski, brother Jason and wife Brenda. He is lovingly remembered by Trevor Zielinski, in-laws Eric and Gladys Werner, Grace Hordyski, Lynette and Lenard Kowalke, Cheryl and Frank Behrendt. He was a favoured uncle to his nieces and nephews and a dear friend to many. He was predeceased by parents Michael (Maxy) and Mary Molinski, parents-in-law Paul and Olga Otto, sister-in-law Irma Werner and brother-in-law Ralph Hordyski. Mike was born on January 22, 1952 in Beausejour, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm in Thalberg and attended Gull Lake School and Beausejour Collegiate Institute. At age 19 he met the love of his life, Merilyn. They married on April 27, 1974 and made their home in North Kildonan. They welcomed Keri in 1978 and Kris in 1980. Visiting and joking around, Sunday drives, cooking and cutting firewood were among his favourite activities and his heaven on earth was time spent at the family cottage. He would gladly do anything for anyone in need and maintained a positive, cheerful attitude even when the "going got tough". After a few years at Superior Envelopes, he began a 36 year career as a pressman at Sonoco Flexible Packaging. He was hard working, meticulous and took pride in his work. Retiring in 2011 allowed him the opportunity to spend quality time with his grandchildren. Mike relished this time and his love for his four little beauties and two little chums was evident in every moment. As his family, we are so thankful to have celebrated Dad's 64th birthday on January 16. We did not know that this was the last time that he would be together with his grandchildren. In early November, he learned that he had a blood disorder, and on January 5, 2016 he received confirmation that it was a type of blood cancer. He was thankful to have enjoyed a good quality of life to this point and treatments were scheduled to begin in late January. Unfortunately, before treatment could begin, he developed an infection, spent several days in hospital and then passed unexpectedly. We believe that our Dad is fully healed in Heaven, and are thankful for his love for our mother and his family, faith and service to others. Prayer service and viewing will be held Tuesday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Parish, 264 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 3 at 10:30 a.m., also at Holy Redeemer Parish. Luncheon and fellowship will immediately follow in the parish hall. Interment will take place at 3:15 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Gull Lake, Manitoba. Pallbearers will be Dusty Molinski, Cam Molinski, Rob Hordyski, Richard Kowalke, Tim Behrendt, Joel Behrendt, and honourary pallbearer, Courtney Werner. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or Holy Redeemer Parish. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Worked with Mike at Sonoco for 22 years. Always helpful, friendly and ready to do anything for you. Just as your big brother, there for you all the time. Passing away was a shock to me. He was still young. May Lord give strength to the family and all the dear ones. Rest in peace Mike. - Posted by: gurupkar (co worker and friend) on: Feb 02, 2016

  • My sincere sympathies to Merilyn and family. Although I had only meet Michael a few times he made an impact on me. I thought he was so thoughtful making your lunches for work and occasionally including a little note. Seeing you two together were like watching teenagers falling in love. Hopefully your memories will carry you through this difficult time. - Posted by: Debra Prive (previous co worker) on: Feb 01, 2016

  • I am truly sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you Merilyn and your family. - Posted by: Connie Arnhold (Childhood Friend and Classmate of Merilyn's) on: Feb 01, 2016

  • We were so saddened with the news of Mikes passing. We have been neighbours to Mike and Merilyn for over 30 years and they are the most wonderful and supportive friends you could have. On top of being such great neighbours, Mike was always there to watch over our house, take in the mail, check the furnace, the water, the lights and on and on during our absences. Whenever I needed a hand or advice on how to fix something, Mike was always there. There was alway a joke or smile to go with it. We will miss him so much and our sincerest condolences go out to Merilyn, Keri, Kris, and all his family and his precious grandchildren. • It is with the deepest sadness and the greatest honor that we write this tribute. Sad because we have lost an amazing friend. Honored because we were blessed that he was a part of our lives. M&M were the kind of friends that you didn't have to see everyday, no matter the amount of time that passed we could just pick right up where we left off. We will miss that. Mike was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was the type of person that could go build a cabin of his dreams and then go sing in the church choir. He was gentle, humble humerous. We are so sorry that you have to go through this. Mike was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Our most heartfelt condolences to Merilyn, Keri, Kris and his grandchildren. With love, Craig, Lila and family. - Posted by: Craig & Lila Huston (Friends) on: Jan 30, 2016

  • It is with very heavy hearts that we write this tribute for a dear friend. There are so many wonderful memories we could share because Mike was such a blessing in our lives. He was a down-to-earth, humorous, no nonsense individual. We will miss our visits and conversations with him. Deepest, deepest sympathies to Merilyn, Keri, Kris, Suzanne and Mike's little princes and princesses. He was a master of the corny joke and the one about why there are no trees in Saskatchewan is one we share over and over again. God has carried you safely to heaven where we will all meet again. - Posted by: Doug and Debbie Kozusko (friend and distant cousin) on: Jan 28, 2016
