JEREMIAS DEMELO It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Jeremias Demelo on Sunday, February 21, 2016. Jeremias leaves to mourn his wife of 53 years, Lidia; two sons, George (Lina) and Jimmy (Maryanne); two sisters; three brothers living in the USA; and sister-in-law Fatima (Aureliano). Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street North with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeremias' memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. We were deeply saddened to hear of our beloved neighbour Jim's passing. He and his wife welcomed us to our new neighbourhood back in 1987. We were new parents and not all of our neighbours were thrilled we had moved into an area of primarily older adults. Nevertheless, Jim and Lidia made us feel so welcome. Over the years, we came to appreciate and rely on Jim's keeping an eye on the area, our vehicles. We felt safe and secure in the knowledge he cared about us and our area. He often gave us very helpful tips and suggestions, and recently - when Fred was unwell - approached me regularly to check in and see how he was doing. We are going to miss him so very much...he was a truly good man.
