Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHEDWIG (HEDI) MAKARA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hedwig (Hedi) Makara on Monday, February 22, 2016 at the age of 84. Hedwig was predeceased by her parents Valerie and Frank Makara. She will be dearly missed by her brother Mitchell Makara; her niece Sheri (Kevin) Melsted and their children, Alexandra and Samantha; her nephew Gordon (Sharleen) Wright Makara and their children, Abi, Asia and Coen. Hedwig was born in Krosno, Poland on October 11, 1931. Hedwig immigrated to Canada in 1936 with her parents where she grew up in Hadashville, Manitoba and later moved to Winnipeg. There, Hedwig became a hairdresser and had her own business for many years. She then moved on to become a homecare worker until retirement. Hedwig enjoyed her many trips to Shooting Star, Skydancer and Wendover, Nevada with her dear friend Beryl Dutka. She also just returned from a two month trip to Mexico with her close friend Theresa Pawlyshyn. Hedwig thoroughly enjoyed spending many Christmases and Easters with her longtime friend Theresa Lagsdine. She will be missed by these close friends and many others. Many thanks to the Concordia General Hospital staff and Dr. Thomas for all their compassion, support and kindness. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 26 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. Interment to follow in Hadashville, Manitoba. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Hedwig's memory to The Ronald McDonald House. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

Hedi was a good friend. Will remember the laughs, the lunches at the casino, our girls' weekends here in Dryden & at West Hawk Lake. Wishing I could have gone to Mexico with her this year - could have been dangerous with the three of us together hahahaha. Will be dearly missed.
