LENA (BOBBI) CZAPLA It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved Lena Czapla, also known as "Bobbi", who passed away on March 1, 2016, at the age of 96. Bobbi was predeceased by her long-time husband and best friend, Vincent Czapla "Gedo" and her daughter Gail Furdyk. Bobbi is survived by her daughters, Sandra Sargent and Beverly Nilsen; and her sons, Ron and Jerry Czapla, along with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobbi was born on July 29, 1919 in the Ukraine, but relocated to Canada with her family at the age of six, for the pursuit of a better, healthier life. It was in Canada that Lena met her future husband, Vincent. They were happily married for many years, accomplished much and enjoyed their lives together. Bobbi was a strong person, who raised five children and who also worked outside the home to help support her family. She worked several odd jobs early in life, and then settled as a housekeeper for the remainder of her working career for members of the Winnipeg Jets in the early 1970s. The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at the Maples Care Home for their compassion and ability to provide comfort to Bobbi in her stay there and especially in her final days. A ceremony in her memory will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
