VIOLET MAY FLAMAND (CAYER, GRAWBERGER)
Born: May 10, 1928
Date of Passing: Feb 26, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVIOLET MAY FLAMAND (CAYER, GRAWBERGER) May 10, 1928 - February 26, 2016 At the closing of the day on February 26, 2016, Mom peacefully slipped away from her earthly home at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her children Sharron (Cliff), Marlene (Maurice), Marvin, Pam (Jim), Rocky (Cathy), daughter-in-law Alberta, 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, sister Phyllis, along with nieces, nephews, friends and lifelong friend and companion Marcien. Mom was predeceased by her husband Raymond and their twin sons Keith and Kenneth, her parents, five sisters and five brothers. Mom was born May 10, 1928 in Vita, Manitoba, the 10th child of 12 born to Augusta (Witt) and Isaac Grawberger. She was raised on the family farm in Piney, MB. She worked hard all her life maintaining a home and tending huge gardens while raising her family of seven children. She was so proud of her children and taught us to be kind and compassionate towards others. She was lovingly named "Grandma Mickey Mouse" and "Nana Vi" by her grandchildren. Reflecting on mom's good health before her illness, her true joys were her family, traveling and her ABC's (arts and crafts, baking, bingo and casino). In 2009, after being diagnosed with dementia, mom was unable to live independently and she became a resident at Oakview Extended Care. Losing her ability to find the right words and to reason things out was the cruelest blow to her. Mom did enjoy the excellent care she received there which included having her hair done each week and attending the sing along group in the recreation area. Her face would light up when she would hear her favourite song "You are my Sunshine". The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her doctors, nurses, caregivers and friends at Oakview Extended Care. The care, comfort and compassion provided made you her "Angels on Earth". At moms request cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Piney Hall in Piney MB. Please join us for memories, fellowship and refreshments. Interment to follow at a later date.

To the family of Grandma Mickey Mouse, We were sorry to hear that Grandma had passed. She was always so kind and playful with me and with my family when we saw her at family gatherings. May she rest in peace, I will forever remember how pretty she was with her dark hair and blue eyes and how she loved to wear colourful high heels with her flared out dresses. I remember her cat-eye glasses and her laughter. Violet may your name be remembered with great fondness by all who knew and loved you and may your memory be for a blessing throughout your grandchildren's children's generations. Amen and Aho. - Posted by: Ila Ieraci (Nee Flamand) (Ex-sister in law) on: Mar 05, 2016

My Grandmother, my Mom for the first several years of my life, my teacher, my confidant. I spoke with her almost every single day on the phone. I would always say, "I can hear your squirrel chattering" and she would say, "I can hear your Meadowlark singing". Gram would always come over and spend a few days with us. I miss seeing her drive up our driveway. I miss the funny things she would say that made me laugh out loud. I miss being able to ask her about gardening and flowers, she always had the answer for me. She was so knowledgeable. I even miss going to Bingo with her, it was never really my favourite game but I went to be with her. I miss rubbing hand lotion on your hands Gram. I miss you so much - Posted by: Nadine (Dee) (Eldest Granddaughter) on: Mar 05, 2016
