• I met Bep on a field trip with Native Orchid Conservation many years ago - perhaps 2004 or 2005. She was always so enthusiastic about coming on our field trips and that enthusiasm was infectious. • It was a pleasure and a privilege to come to know Bep when she attended services at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg. She was an active member until her health began to keep her from being involved with the life and work of the church. She always appreciated visits from Anna Doorenbos, a member of our Pastoral Care Team who visited her regularly. I recall one after church discussion in which people were asked to share their "fears" and Bep talked about losing her intellectual capacities and we both spoke of that fear of losing oneself. I know she shared that concern often with Anna - and how grateful she was that she still could chat with someone from the church. Anna is out of the province visiting a great-grandchild and I don't believe she will be back before Bep's service but I will certainly pass the news onto her... and tomorrow morning I will light a candle of Remembrance for Bep as part of our service.
