KATHERINE JOYCE BARKMAN With mourning hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Kathy Barkman (nee Gerbrandt), aged 57, at her home in Winnipeg on Sunday, March 20, 2016. Wife, mother, and sister, as well as friend to countless many, Kathy leaves behind her husband Lyle, sons Ben (Hyera), and Dan, and many extended and honorary family members. Kathy also leaves behind a legacy of love and simple beauty. She touched the hearts of so many people with her kindness. Always an artist, her home remains filled with tokens of her warmth and her gentle touch, including her beautiful watercolour paintings. Amidst homemaking as well as home-schooling Ben and Dan up until high school, she and Lyle helped build Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company, to which she applied her love of pie baking, space design, and administration. A viewing will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. (10:00 a.m. viewing) at Nassau Street Church, 232 Nassau Street, Winnipeg, Tuesday, March 29.   • Dear Lyle, Ben and Dan: I only now learned of Kathy's passing and I am deeply saddened. Though we had fallen out of touch, we had been best friends throughout high school and I have wonderful memories of classroom antics and of countless hours spent at her family home.   • Kathy & Lyle were our youth leaders at Gospel Mennonite but so much more. Their home on Hespeler was filled with love and warmth.....always welcoming. Kathy shared herself with everyone, more beautiful than words can ever say was Kathy. Kathy had a way of loving those around her with this amazing warmth that I will never forget. I can't imagine the joy when you reached that Golden Shore Kathy. Your Dad and Anne waiting for you and you precious Lord Jesus saying Well done thou good & faithful servant. Lyle, my heart aches for you as I have known you without your beautiful Kathy. Ben & Dan, your mother was more than amazing, and I am so sad for the loss of one so precious.
