WILLIAM TARAS RUDY (BILL) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dedicated and caring husband, father, and grandfather, William Taras Rudy (Bill). After a brief illness, Bill passed away on March 19, 2015 at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Brenda Rudy (nee Pellow); his children, Jason (Erica), Dana (Chris) and Tara (Marc); and his beloved grandchildren, Sam, Dawson, Sara, and Nora. He is survived by his mother, June Rudy (nee Van Meter), his siblings Sylvia Stephenson (Brian), Margaret McIntyre, Bev Hammerlindl (Del), and Brad Rudy (Melanie), his sisters in law Janice Ginn (Jeff) and Debby Pellow, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his father Taras Rudy, his mother in law Madeline Pellow, father in law John Pellow, and his brothers in law Glen McIntyre and Germaine Paquette. Born in Carrot River, Saskatchewan on January 2, 1950, Bill lived in Eatonia, Saskatchewan before joining the Canadian Armed Forces. The military was an important part of his life and brought him and his family across Canada, to Germany, and finally Virginia where he fell in love with the beach. Bill retired from the Air Force in 2000 after 30 years of service and continued to work for the 17 Wing Telecommunications and Information Services Squadron for the past 15 years. Bill and Brenda settled in St. Laurent on Lake Manitoba in 2006. Bill's greatest enjoyment came from spending time at home and helping others. He was a generous man who dedicated his life to his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and collecting. He will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, sense of humour, and loving heart. The family's heartfelt thanks go to everyone who helped in his care. The Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Friday, April 1 at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba in Bill's memory are graciously accepted. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Bill and I were WOs in the Borden Node and then I replaced him at DCA when he was posted to Virginia. I admired that man! He had 'Free Cell' on the computer and told me to play it whenever I got frustrated. We actually sort of met in Western Canada in the 70s and 80s! Brenda: I was that person who got you all those CDs for your wonderful artwork. He will be missed! - Posted by: Marty Keates (peer) on: Mar 28, 2016

  • Brenda and Family: Doug and I are very saddened to hear of Bills passing. He's one of those special people that should have lived forever because he was so awesome. we will especially remember being on a plane Dec 1989 heading to Mexico and you and Bill were on the same flight. After your first week in Mazatland you were going to Puerto Vallarta where Doug and I were so we got together for Beachtime, Drinks, dinners and lots of good laughs which created long lasting fun memories for us from that trip. We have talked several times about that week with you both and how much fun it was. Because I worked with Bill(briefly), I never knew him outside of work until that Mexico trip.....it was so neat that not only was he a well respected and easy going boss, he was also a super fun guy outside of work. Brenda, words cannot express our sorrow over this heartbreaking loss to you and your family&friends. We hope that you have lots of support where you are. May he Rest in Peace. Hugs to you/family, Doug and Kelly Pickering. - Posted by: Doug & Kelly Pickering (Past Coworker (743 Comms) on: Mar 27, 2016
