LILY BRYDGES On March 27, 2016, Lily passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital, on her 89th birthday. Lily was predeceased by her husband Alfred and son Arthur. Left to lovingly remember Lily is her son Rob (Lianne); grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brett, Braeden and many relatives and friends. Lily was born in Cooks Creek, MB, along with her six brothers and two sisters. Lily eventually moved to Winnipeg and lived with her sister Mary before marrying her husband Alfred in 1961. They bought their first and only home in 1961 and happily raised their children there. Alfred passed away in 1998, but Lily stayed in the house for many years to come. Lily lived there for 54 years before moving to the River Ridge Retirement Residence in June of 2015. Lily worked in the fur trade for many years; working at home while raising her children and then working full-time at Steen & Wright Furriers once the children were in their school years. Lily spent the rest of her working career in fur repair at Hudson's Bay until she retired in 1992. Lily loved her job and worked part-time past retirement at the request of her employer. Lily was a hard worker who took pride in keeping her house spotless inside and out. Her age didn't stop her from doing any chores around the house. Lily spent many happy times with family and friends at Legion 141. The family cottage was built in 1974 at Hillside Beach, where we spent many memorable weekends enjoying the company of family and friends for more than 30 years. Lily enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren and loved spoiling them with her generous gifts. Never wanting but always giving to family and many charitable organizations. Thanks to Dr. Tunovic and the support staff at Concordia Hospital N1 South for their care and compassion through our difficult time. Thank you to Sister Cathy for spending time on Saturday afternoon with us. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Lily's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery, Highway 1 East at Navin Road. We are deeply saddened at the passing of our dear aunt. She lived a life of strength and determination and in the end did things her way! Rather symbolic that she died on the day she entered the world in 1927! As the youngest of the Sherby family, her passing signals the end of a generation. Cherish the memories of a life well lived! Now she joins all those who have gone before! Loved and missed by Ollie Carlson and Lynda Ruban - Posted by: Lynda Ruban (niece) on: Mar 30, 2016
