MARTHA GOERTZ October 12, 1931 - March 29, 2016 "Beyond the sunset, oh blissful morning, when with our Saviour heaven is begun." With deep sadness but profound peace, we announce the passing of Martha L. Goertz on March 29, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents, Isaac and Sara Goertz; sister Olga and her husband Henry Wiebe. Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Isaac (Frieda) Goertz, Mary (Henry) Wiebe, Nitha Goertz, stepmother Annie Goertz, nieces, nephews and their families. She grew up in the Arnaud, Manitoba district. Martha was baptized on the confession of her faith and accepted into the Arnaud Mennonite Brethren Church. In 1953, Martha moved to Winnipeg and was employed by Massey Ferguson for 26 years and later at Canadian Indemnity until her early retirement in 1986. Martha enjoyed reading, poetry, singing, needle-work, knitting, bowling, walking, cycling and cross-country skiing. She was active in church activities, singing in the choir and assisting in the church library. Some highlights were family car and camping trips travelling from BC to PEI. She enjoyed many winter holidays in Florida, California, Arizona, Mexico and Texas. In 1998, Martha was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. A highlight for her was to participate in their exercise group every Monday. In Martha's memory, donations may be made to Parkinson Society Manitoba or a charity or your choice. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street.
