Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Our families met up with the John Peters family in El Paso Texas in Dec 1982. We were both driving to Mexico to be with John's brother Dan and my Dads' sister Elma for Christmas. During that time we had such a fun filled trip, that I will always remember fondly. As we were driving, we were in the group where John was pulled over by the police and given a ticket. The song of the season was Feliz Navidad but it was quickly composed to "Police nabbed my dad" courtesy of Bryon. We send you our condolences from Dave Tiessen and his extended family. - Posted by: Betty Anne Georgeson (Friends) on: Apr 12, 2016

  • I have many happy memories of John, especially at the cabin in Falcon Lake where, along with Betty, we kayaked across the lake for breakfast, listening to stories about the loons and eagles as if they were part of their family. I also remember John meeting some newcomers on the beach at Falcon and all of us giving them rides on the canoe before heading back to the cottage. Both Betty and John shared the cottage so generously, providing a beautiful sanctuary for us away from the city. John deeply cared about the newcomer community and I will never forget his wise answers to difficult questions. He has helped me be a more tolerant and accepting person and I'm very grateful to him for that. My deepest sympathies to Betty, Bryon, Sonia and her family. Barry and I are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Vi Stoesz (Friend) on: Apr 11, 2016
