Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD GORDON GUENTHER Peacefully, in the arms of his mother, and surrounded by his family, Harold went home to his eternal rest on Friday morning, April 8, 2016, ending a lingering illness. He is survived by his parents, Henry and Rita Guenther; brother John (Helen); nephew Joshua; niece Bethany; aunt Annie Bergen; uncle Henry and aunt Mary Loewen, and many cousins and their families. He is predeceased by his great-grandmother Suzanne Herfort; grandmother Anna Guenther, and grandmother and best friend Suzanne Klein, and especially by his cherished cat, Tawny. Harold was born March 1, 1965 in Winnipeg, and was a younger brother to John. Growing up, he was a constant shadow to his bigger brother. Harold grew up in a home with his parents, brother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a result, both kids were pampered and doted on. German was the first language the boys learned but he picked up English when school began. With one grandmother being a teacher, homework was a given, as was Saturday morning German school. Harold attended Neil Campbell School and later on Polson School for elementary school. He then attended Munroe Junior High and Miles Macdonell Collegiate where he graduated the modified Grade 12 curriculum. After graduation, Harold had a number of job placements through WASO. His first long term placement was Palliser Furniture where he worked for 11 years. His placement after this was at a car dealership where he developed a hernia. After this, he was placed at Central Coupler where he worked until the time of his illness. For Harold, work was his identity and the place he wanted to be the most. Harold never complained about going to work, whether it was getting up before 6:00 a.m. or walking a mile in the snow. Other than this, Harold loved cars. He would almost always go to St. Vital Centre or Polo Park and spend the day looking around, having a snack, and buying a new car magazine because he always had to have a new one in case his brother came over. Harold also loved music, whether it was a church hymns, German folk songs or other country gospel music. He could often spend his evening listening to music. Harold's faith in God was sound, having the faith of a child. This was evident as he was baptized into the Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church where he was a member until the time of his passing. Harold was a member of a group of families meeting and serving as part of the church. He treasured this group and the friendship they gave, even to the end. Harold also had many other friends among the elders of the church and appreciated these friendships as well. It is into this faith that we let our son and brother go to be with his Lord and his family. Harold passed away at Concordia Hospital. A special thank-you to Dr. D. Martin and the excellent caring staff on N3 East who cared for Harold and his family in a loving and respectful way. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church, 926 Garfield Street, with viewing prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sargent Avenue Mennonite Church Cemetery in Springstein, Manitoba. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Winnipeg Harvest or Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Friends Funeral Service, 204-339-5555.

Harold was a vital part of our small group at church. He took an active role in our relaxed conversations, asking how each of us were doing and commenting on the latest news stories. He was well loved by group members of all ages, including our two children. We will miss you, Harold and look forward to meeting you again when we get to Heaven, too. - Posted by: Wendy Barkman (Friend) on: Apr 12, 2016

My sincere, deepest sympathy to Tante Rita, Onkel Heiz, John, Helen, Joshua, and Bethany. A life taken too soon. I hold many fond memories of Harold and learned more about cars through him at an early age. May God hold you dear in this time of sorrow. Thinking about you dearly. - Posted by: Marg Bergen (Cousin) on: Apr 11, 2016
