Jeanette and I were both sad to hear of your mom's passing and that we missed the celebration of her life. Your mom and dad were both very large influences in my life. They were both very special people and I believe both their lives were "well lived". - Posted by: Bob Dennis (Friend of the family) on: Aug 17, 2016

To the family of Bernice, just wanted to pass along my condolences in the loss of your Mom. I first met Bernice at the Munroe Library. It was our local library where my children and myself found great books to read. She was always so pleasant and had kind words for everyone. I looked forward to seeing her cheerful smile. Later in life our paths would cross when I taught fitness classes in North Kildonan. Again I was blessed with that wonderful smile and great energy. In fact, your Dad used to walk her to NK community club and return later to walk back home together. What a sweet couple! Once again our paths crossed at Bethania where my Mom was a resident. At that time she came for respite just down the hall from my Mom. After my Mom passed I continued to volunteer and stopped to chat with her whenever we met. She was a lovely lady. - Posted by: Lynda Jones (Acquaintance) on: Apr 12, 2016

Today I will not see Bernice's alert, smiling face as I come through the doors of Bethania, sadly. I enjoyed our short conversations about the books she carried in her walker, etc. Occasionally I had the privilege of pulling an Afghan over her feet as she went for her after lunch nap. An admirable lady! - Posted by: Lina Woelke (volunteer at Bethania) on: Apr 12, 2016

Candy, Morna, Margot and Nan...My sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. She was a bright spark in the neighbourhood and so full of energy. She always seemed to take note of the good in people and despite some tough times in recent years, I could never help but notice her genuine smile on those few occasions when out paths did cross. I regret being unable to attend the service, but my thoughts will be with you all. - Robert Marshall - Posted by: Robert Marshall (neighbour) on: Apr 11, 2016

Dear Nan, we are so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. She lived a happy long life. Even though she lived well into her 90's, she is your mom and I know you will miss her terribly. We have known each other for over 50 years and have been neighbors for that long as well, only 2 homes away from each other. I can still see your mom and dad working in the yard as I walked by with my dog, and they were always so friendly with a bright smile on their faces and we caught up on any daily news. They are both missed. My sincere condolences Nan to you and your family. - Posted by: Toby & Mary Lynn Desmarais (Friend to Nan) on: Apr 09, 2016
