IVAN TEREPA July 28, 1927 - April 11, 2016 With great sadness, we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather, Ivan Terepa, on April 11, 2016 at the age of 88. Ivan was born on July 28, 1927 in Skvariava, Ukraine and was a survivor of the Ukrainian famine. After immigrating to Canada in the late 1950s, he was initially employed as a barber and then at CP Rail for 36 years until his retirement in 1992. He married Bridget in 1969 and they were blessed with two children, Mary and Michael. Ivan was a devoted husband and father who put others' needs before his own. He enjoyed working outdoors, reading, studying new things, and was a keen chess player. He was a proud grandfather who always looked forward to his grandsons' visits. In his later years, he battled Parkinson's disease with great determination. Ivan was predeceased by his parents; two brothers; and a sister. He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Bridget; son Michael; daughter Mary (Raymond); grandsons, Andrew and Matthew; brother Ihor, and extended family in Ukraine. The family is grateful for the kindness and care of Dr. T. Panaskevich and Dr. D. Hobson, as well as the Home Care staff whose assistance allowed Ivan to remain at home as he wished. Special thank you to the Lemoine and Kmet families for their unwavering support. Funeral service will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Avenue, with Father Isidore Dziadyk officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
