WILLIAM JAMES COLE February 13, 1930 - April 26, 2016 Peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, William (Bill) James Cole passed away at the age of 86. Bill was predeceased by his first wife Catherine Cole and his parents John and Sophia (Zahara) Cole. Remaining to forever cherish Bill's memory are his wife Joan Zielke-Cole and four children, Kathleen (Walter) Masnyk, Patricia (Peter) Rogaski, John (Gisele Poirier) Cole and Sheila (Jason) Cayer and six grandchildren, Shelagh, Maria, Sophie, Léa, Ronan and Alex. He is further survived by three stepchildren, Pam (Gordon) Mikolayenko, Corrie Preece and Chris (Charlene) Zielke and step-grandchildren, Joel, Jen, Brent, Keith, Lauren, Michael, Samuel, Tessa, Allie, Hailey. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg. After completing high school, Dad worked for various companies, finally settling into 40 years of dedicated service with the CNR. He was fortunate to travel on several occasions to visit family in BC and North Carolina. Dad had a passion for mind stimulating games or puzzles. Never boastful, he would quietly complete a complex crossword puzzle in record time. He enjoyed playing card games with the grandchildren. While he possessed enormous capabilities, Dad chose to lead a simple life. He leaves us a legacy of a strong work ethic, kindness, humility, and simplicity. A man of integrity, he left this world with a deep peace in his soul. The family would like to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Dr. Johnston, Dr. Singer as well as the staff on the 4th and 7th floors at Health Sciences Centre for the loving care provided to our father during his illness. Memorial service 5:30 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Calvary Temple, 440 Hargrave Street, Winnipeg. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Rest in peace, Papa. We will cherish your memory and love you forever. Bill, I will love you forever, Joan. Bardal Funeral Home 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I would like to pass on my condolences to Kathleen, Patricia, John and Sheila and their families. Growing up on McMeans Bay was like living in a small town and we all knew our neighbours. Bill and Kathy were wonderful people and were the type of people who would give you the shirt off their backs. Bill was a quiet man and was always there if you needed something. Rest in Peace Mr. Cole. - Posted by: Richard Pearson (Former neighbour) on: May 02, 2016
