JOHN WARKENTIN 1935 - 2016 Peacefully, in his wife's loving arms and surrounded by family, John Warkentin passed away to be with his Lord and Saviour, at St. Boniface Hospital, on May 11, 2016, at the age of 80. He will be sadly missed by his wife Martha; children, Sherry (Tim Herkert), Pamela (Roger Sawatzky), Jeff (Jenn), Mark (Connie) and 13 grandchildren. John was raised in Grunthal, Manitoba and attended school in that community until he graduated from high school. In 1954, he moved to Winnipeg to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant. He met Martha in Winnipeg and was married in June 1960. Together they raised their family in Charleswood. John was committed to both his family and to his church as a long-standing member of both Burrows Mennonite Church and later, Bethel Mennonite Church. For many years he served as Treasurer and greatly enjoyed his work in sponsoring many refugee families to Canada. John was a very modest, kind and compassionate man, known for his quiet demeanour and high standards. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank both Dr. P.
