KELLY DARLENE PAULS After struggling with health issues for years, Kelly was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour on May 12, 2016. Kelly was adopted at birth and the first child of John H. and Martha Pauls. She was born on August 5, 1965, and spent her childhood and teen years on the family farm in Osborne, Manitoba. After two years spent at Caronport High School and one year at Winkler Bible Institute, Kelly moved to Winnipeg to begin her adult life. Life was not easy for Kelly with her health issues but she met each challenge with a smile and her adaptability to each situation was a marvel to witness. Her window to the world consisted of hourly updates to Dad about the price fluctuations in gas, as she would report the price changes at the station across the street. It also consisted of weather reports usually of one word - flood. Dad would question where? Georgia. Ok, anybody hurt? No. Alright is that all? Yup, goodbye. Next would be an earthquake in Chile and then a tornado in Brazil and the next day it would start again. She was also the stubbornest person in the world. Kelly the sky is blue. No, it isn't. Yes, it is. Is not. And that could go on for hours, and all the time she would be smiling. Kelly is survived by her mother Martha, her sister Cheryl, and her brother Richard and his children. She was predeceased by her father John in 2015. She will be lovingly remembered by her uncles, aunts, and cousins, especially Beryl, and many friends. Her family especially wants to thank all the staff at the many hospitals she spent time in. Deer Lodge where she spent the last year, the Victoria and Health Sciences Centre where she had extended stays over the years. And very much the ER and ICU staff at the Grace Hospital for the wonderful care she received during her final hours. Memorial service for Kelly will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the Portage Avenue Church, 1420 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. Burial will take place at LaSalle Mennonite Cemetery at 10:30 a.m., prior to the service. Donations in Kelly's memory may be made to Deer Lodge Foundation available at the service. Friends Funeral Service, 204-339-5555

  • Martha, I was so sorry to learn of Kelly's passing when I opened the paper today. My thoughts are with you and I want you to know of the positive influence Kelly has had on so many young physiotherapists and other medical personnel. Her willingness to allow pictures of her progress with her mobility struggles has been invaluable. You, your husband and Kelly stand out in my career memories. I wish you peace in the days to come. - Posted by: Heather Morton (Physiotherapist of Kelly) on: May 14, 2016
