ELISABETH KANNWISCHER (nee SCHMIDT) May 21, 1926 - May 14, 2016 Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Elisabeth Kannwischer passed away to be with her Lord and Saviour on May 14, 2016 at the age of 89. She will be sadly missed by her two sons and their spouses, Jurgen and Glenda, Rolf and Doris; grandchildren, Lisa and Jonathan Brown, Scott and Lindsay Kannwischer, Lauren, Kyle and Michelle Kannwischer; and two great-grandchildren Riley and Brynn, as well as many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Emil. Elisabeth was born on May 21, 1926 in Leer, Ostfriesland, Germany, one of nine children. In 1952, she married the love of her life Emil Kannwischer. They were blessed with two children Jurgen and Rolf. In 1962, the family of four immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg. She became a member of McDermot Avenue Baptist Church, where she made lifelong friends and faithfully attended until her passing. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, affectionately known as Oma Auie to her grandchildren and many other young children at her church. She had been looking forward to celebrating her 90th birthday, but now she is celebrating with Jesus in heaven. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church, 821 McDermot Ave. A viewing will take place on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:15 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Nutimik Baptist Camp. Friends Funeral Service, 204-339-5555
