Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTHA (BUSHENLONGA) MCDONALD It was with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, Bertha McDonald. Bertha passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Seven Oaks Hospital with her children at her side. Bertha will be mourned by many, her family, her friends, her neighbours, and her hundreds of students. Bertha was born in Swan River, MB on October 7, 1937. She grew up on the family farm with her parents August and Dorothy Bushenlonga as well as her sisters Elizabeth (Clark) and Mary (Arndt) and her brother Harry. She received her education in town and moved to Winnipeg in 1958 to complete Teachers College and do what she always wanted, teach. Her job took her across Manitoba and while in Flin Flon she met and married John (Jack) McDonald. She taught for over 35 years, touching hundreds of students along the way. After she retired she kept busy selling Totally Tropical Plants, joined the Red Hatters, went aqua sizing, and joined Tops. She enjoyed the Flin Flon and Swan River lunches, spending time with old friends. In the years since Jack passed she enjoyed the friends and activities at her apartment block. She was predeceased by her husband Jack McDonald, and her parents August and Dorothy Bushenlonga. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Bunzeluk (Randy) and her son Robert (Andrea); as well as her grandchildren, Justin, Paige, and Zander. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. Private interment to follow.
