FRANCES SHIRLEY MCCURDY
Born: Nov 22, 1949
Date of Passing: Jun 11, 2016
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES SHIRLEY MCCURDY (nee BARASCHUK) November 22, 1949 - June 11, 2016 It is with deep sadness we announce that Frances Shirley McCurdy passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on June 11, 2016 in Winnipeg, MB. Fran leaves to mourn her father Adolph, husband of 47 years, Jim, daughter Darci (Rick), son Garth (Kristin), brother Mike (Annice), and grandchildren Rachael, Kaitlyn, Austin, Melody and Alaynna. Fran was born in Winnipeg and raised in south St. Vital and spent most of her summers at the family farm near Fisher Branch, MB. Fran married Jim in July of 1968 and started their family in the St. Vital area before moving to the Stonewall area in 1975. Together with Jim, they spent many years there making numerous lifelong friends. Fran and Jim loved to camp with their family and tried to get away as much as they could. Fran loved to read romance novels, macramé and other crafts. Fran was very much a people person and loved to know what all the family was up to. She was genuinely interested in what was happening with everyone she met and loved to ask "What's new?" Fran worked just shy of 25 years at Jostens of Canada in Winnipeg. In 2008 she retired to Winnipeg with Jim. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre ICU unit for their compassionate care. A celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, Stonewall. Private interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations can be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Canada. www.crohnsandcolitis.ca MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall 204-467-2525 info@mackenziefh.com

Jim, Darci, Garth (and extended families). Our family (Linda, Peter, Jenness, Rochelle, Andrew) are saddened to hear of your loss. We have many wonderful memories of our years as neighbours and friends as our children grew up together on Shady Lane in Stonewall. We talked briefly with Jim and Fran last summer at the Salisbury House restaurant reminiscing of our years as friends. Fran was such a good friend and neighbour, so kind to our children. She always had a cookie for Andrew when he would knock at her door (without his parents knowledge!). Informal coffee visits, summer garage sales, pranks to celebrate birthdays, are all special memories of a wonderful lady. Our deepest sympathy to Jim and family.
