Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD COULTER FINLAY Suddenly, on June 15, 2016, Lloyd passed away at the Grace Hospital, surrounded by family. Lloyd was born in Portage la Prairie, MB, on November 25, 1943. He lived life to the fullest and on his own terms. Lloyd will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by Ildiko Gyarmati, his wife of 23 years; sons, Béla and Sándor Gyarmati, Quentin and Ryan Finlay; and daughter Dara Finlay. Lloyd will also be missed by his grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. Lloyd was devoted to his career and staff for many years in Child Welfare until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, wood crafting and skiing in his spare time. He loved his travels throughout Europe, the U.S., Canada, Egypt, the Caribbean and he especially enjoyed his condo in Florida. Lloyd's pig roasts were well loved. Lloyd loved to volunteer, was active in the community and was the President of the John Taylor Collegiate Music Parents Association. In his retirement, Lloyd was an excellent "Mr. Mom" to Béla and Sándor, and enthusiastically supported them in all their endeavours. Special thanks to Dr. Winogrodzka and her staff for all their compassionate care through the years. We would also like to thank the Grace Hospital staff and the WFPS for their kind efforts. Celebration of Life will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. at Henderson Highway, Winnipeg MB. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

I was shocked to learn of Lloyd's passing. He was an interesting man with many hobbies. I was closer to his wife Ildiko, and was very happy that she had found her knight in shining armour. He will be greatly missed. Carrie. - Posted by: Carrie (Friend) on: Jul 15, 2016

I'm deeply saddened to learn of Lloyd's passing and extending heartfelt sympathy to the Finlay and Gyarmati families. Lloyd was a ten year lead volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and although a busy man with work and family, he took time to support the Society's annual April Door to Door campaign. Thinking of you at this very sad time. Staff and friends at the Canadian Cancer Society - Posted by: Lynda Ruban (staff at the Canadian Cancer Society) on: Jun 21, 2016

Words cannot describe how much this man meant to me. Starting out in child welfare is no easy task but With Lloyd as a supervisor I looked forward to coming to work everyday. He was a true family man and made certain that I never had to feel torn between work and family life, he made it clear that family ALWAYS comes first and the job is just the job. Because of Lloyd I was able to enter my profession with confidence and clear boundaries and good self care skills. Lloyd was kind, thoughtful, and fun. I as well as My kids enjoyed the time we spent around him outside of work. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. - Posted by: Sabrina Whyte (Friend) on: Jun 20, 2016

Our thoughts go out to Ildiko and family as they grieve the loss of a wonderful husband, father and friend. We will always have fond memories of Lloyd at belly dance recitals where he played a major role, and he was always a great support to all. We know that he took great pride in his family. May memories of times shared with him bring comfort to all. Bev & Rod - Posted by: Bev & Rod Smith (Friends) on: Jun 19, 2016
