Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM WITTENBERG On June 23, 2016 William Wittenberg was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was predeceased by his wife Elfriede Wittenberg, daughter Debbie McDonald, parents Edward and Emelia Wittenberg; brothers Fred, Lou and Emil; and sister Olga. Left to cherish his loving memory are his children Herb (Marilyn), Eric (Glennis) and Betty Ann; son-in-law Graham McDonald; grandchildren Adrian (Kim), Brad (MacKenzie), Ian (Lauren), Laura, Heather (Mike), Kendall and Jayden; great-grandchildren Rylyn and Aria; Emerson, Fletcher and Callahan; Ryan, Nathan, Allison and Kristen; and Tyler. William was born in Romak, Poland on September 5, 1922, the youngest of five children. Following the Second World War he married his childhood sweetheart, Frieda, on November 11, 1945. After suffering through many hardships, they immigrated to Winnipeg in 1948 where they raised their four children. He made it a priority to provide for his family so that they would never have to experience what he had gone through. As a result, he worked many long hours to earn, save and build for the future. He left a legacy of working hard and working smart. He often told his grandchildren "immer denken" (always be thinking). Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Avenue, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Mission Baptist Church International Foundation Inc. (India Mission), 771 Sargent Avenue, Winnipeg or a charity of your choice.
