DENNIS VICTOR SCOTT-HERRIDGE May 16, 1927 - July 8, 2016 Dennis was born on May 16, 1927 in Southampton, England. He fell in love with Monica Fulgoney on "first sight" on a train and pursued finding her for two years. After marriage they parented two children, Gerard and Sandra. He immigrated to Canada in 1958 where he joined the Winnipeg Police Department and later retired in June 1987 with the position of Chief Superintendent of the City Police. He joyously served, with Monica, as Aide de Camp position for 20 years to the Lieutenant Governors of Manitoba, leading to Senior Aide to The Honourable Pearl McGonigal. Dennis served graciously as a confirmed believer at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church with giving support as Chairman of the Building and Fund Raising Committees that raised and constructed the new Church building on Donwood Drive. Dennis leaves behind the love of his life, Monica, who has always been by his side since 1952. His 64 years of married life has always been a joy to both of them and he thanked God for all the years they have been given together. He is survived by his son, Gerard, wife Roberta; grandchildren Crystal; Joel, wife Anne, great-grandchildren Zachary and Libby; Evan, fiancée Trista (who will be married on August 27 this year), and his daughter Sandra Bartakovich (in British Columbia) and her children Scott and Kirk, who are unable to be here. Dennis was blessed by the family God had given him as well as the opportunities given in this wonderful Canada to pursue various occupations and experiences. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass to Celebrate Dennis' life will be held with family. Flowers are gratefully declined, but donations made to St. Boniface Research Foundation (in Dennis' name) will be appreciated by the family. Obituary may also be viewed at www.cropo.com 204-586-8044

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Dennis was an Inspector in District 3 when I first met him in 1979. He was my very first boss on the WPD and trust me, coming into a building where the only other females worked on the other floor of the building, I was thankful to have such a friendly and patient man as my boss. I worked with him for just 2 weeks & then moved on. I saw him off & on throughout the years & he never failed to stop a moment to say hi. My heart aches for his family in the great loss they must be feeling. R.I.P. Dennis - Posted by: Wendy Schwartz (Former Co-worker in District #3 ) on: Jul 13, 2016

  • Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love. For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone. Lamentations 3:32-33 - Posted by: The Beaulieu Family () on: Jul 13, 2016
